English version Soldiers are we, whose lives are pleged to Ireland. Some have come from a land beyond the waves, Sworn to be free, no more our ancient sirelandm Shall shelter the despot or the slave, Tonight we man the "bear-na-baoil", In Erin's cause, come woe or weal, Mid cannon's roar and rifles peal, We'll chant a soldier's song. End of story on this thread please. And before anybody starts, I'm Irish living in the states and have family members both sides of the fence, relatives in the American forces, Spanish American war, on, RFC in WWI, RAF in WWII and since, and wait for it, my grandmothers brother was in the GPO in 1916, (for real). And my own flame who asks a question like does Ireland have a National Atheam in the first place. Name me one country that doesn't have one and is older than 5 years in existance.
